British bank Barclays is strengthening its governance in the Principality with the appointment of Olivier Franceschelli as CEO of its private bank in Monaco. This strategic decision confirms the importance of the Monegasque market in the group's international development.

Made official in March 2026, this appointment continues a role Olivier Franceschelli had already been filling as interim CEO since September 2025. During this period, he helped strengthen client relationships and consolidate the private bank's local offering.

With Barclays since 2020, he has extensive experience in wealth management in Monaco. His in-depth knowledge of the local market is a major asset for supporting the growth of the Monegasque franchise.

In his new role, he will be responsible for developing the private banking business, deepening relationships with a demanding international clientele, and supporting the group's long-term strategy in the region.

This appointment comes amid broader reorganisation within the Barclays Private Bank International division, marked by several leadership changes worldwide.

Monaco, a key market for Barclays

Established in the Principality for more than a century, Barclays regards Monaco as one of its historic and strategic markets in wealth management. Its international clientele, made up of entrepreneurs, investors and wealthy families, represents strong growth potential.

In this context, the appointment of an experienced, locally established profile such as Olivier Franceschelli reflects a clear ambition: to strengthen client proximity while accelerating the growth of the private bank in Monaco.
